CRUE — EU residency certificate Portugal

If you're an EU citizen staying in Portugal for more than 3 months, you need a CRUE. It's your official proof of legal residence.

What is it?

The CRUE (Certificado de Registo de Cidadão da União Europeia) is the official document that proves you are legally residing in Portugal as an EU citizen. After 3 months in the country, it's mandatory. You apply at your local Câmara Municipal (town hall), but you need an appointment, the right documents, and enough Portuguese to communicate with the clerk.
